Notes from the Former President
Volume VII – February 10, 2009
Hard to believe two years have ended, where did that time go? I want to thank everyone for the privilege as serving as your president. We are truly blessed with great workers in our sport. If you ever get a chance, you need to thank Julie Alano, from Hamilton Southeastern. Send her gifts and good wishes. She literally runs our coaches association.
New President
Please welcome our new president, Kenneth Browner from Lawrence North. He is amazingly professional, savvy with technology, and with the nuances of administration. I encourage you to greet Ken when you see him and give him all your support.
New Vice President
Our new vice president is Bill Duffy from
IHSAA Concerns
We had the opportunity to meet with Phil Gardner and Bobby Cox on Friday, January 30th. We all heard our commissioners share information about the IHSAA tournament in both track and in cross country. Is our tournament series perfect? No, it is not. Is it a great and fair series? You bet! We ARE VERY FORTUNATE to have Phil Gardner and Bobby Cox as the commissioners for our sports. They do have the interests of our student athletes at heart. What the format will be for the 2009 IHSAA Cross Country Tournament Series remains to be seen. Phil Gardner will ask you cross country coaches for some feedback very soon.
IATCCC Clinic 2009
The 2009 IATCCC Annual Winter Clinic was held on January 29th - 31st. We had record attendance (740) and what a great opportunity it was for our coaches! All of the workshops and instruction would be impossible were it not for Mike Chastain, Culver Academies. Mike is the consummate professional. We stayed there into the afternoon Saturday trying to tweak the venue and work on plans for 2010. Please forward any thoughts and suggestions to Mike at Culver.

Good luck to everyone competing this spring. The Hoosier State Relays are just ahead. Finals at Purdue this year, it should be fantastic! Entry information is on the web site at www.iatccc.org
Have a great season and again, THANKS for your support these past two years….I’m headed for the helicopter and going to the ranch.
